APD Diagnosis in the UK
Great Ormond Street Hospital is the main APD Diagnostic and Research Clinic in the UK.
From 7th June 2007 Great Ormond Street Hospital will be accepting GP referrals to our APD clinic, as long as these children
1. have normal hearing as shown by normal thresholds on pure tone audiometry
2. have had a speech and language assessment if there are issues about the child's speech and/or language
3. have had a cognitive assessment if there are concerns about cognitive abilities
4.have had Assessment to look at phonological abilities and short-term memory
5. have had Appropriate assessments if there are signs of dyslexia, learning difficulties, attention deficit or autism
6. have Linguistic abilities of a 6 year old (minimum)
7. have Minimum age (developmental age) of 6 years.
You should come to Great Ormond Street Hospital with copies of any relevant medical notes/ letters especially copies of the above assessments.
(Bring every thing with you when you first visit Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Clinicians will select what they want)
The Medical Research Council's Institute of Hearing Research is Researching APD Diagnosis and Co-ordinating new APD Diagnostic Procedures in the UK.
